One product category. Ranked properly.

FanBuyersGuide.com exists because "best fan" lists on the wider internet are mostly recycled spec sheets. We took the opposite bet: cover a single category, fans, deeply enough that the rankings reflect how these products perform for the people who buy them.
Who We Are

A shopping-research company, not a review blog.

FanBuyersGuide is built by the team behind Buyer's Guide, a comparison-shopping network that has helped millions of shoppers narrow down purchases. This site is our single-niche edition: the same ranking systems and purchase data, focused entirely on fans.

That focus shows up in the structure. Instead of one generic "best fans" list, we maintain more than thirty distinct categories, from bedroom tower fans to stroller clip-ons, because a great gym fan and a great nursery fan are not the same product.

Who's Responsible

The person behind the rankings.

I'm Chet Hall, founder and CEO of Wickfire — the Austin, Texas company that owns and operates FanBuyersGuide and the wider Buyer's Guide network. I've spent more than twenty years in online shopping: e-commerce marketing at Shoes.com, half a decade building advertising products at ReachLocal, and since 2011, Wickfire, where comparison-shopping sites like BuyersGuide.org and this one are the entire business. The ranking systems this site runs on are my work — I designed the algorithms, I review what they produce, and I'm accountable for what they put at #1.

There's no anonymous editorial team here. If a ranking looks wrong, let me know and the data gets better. You can verify who I am on LinkedIn.

How We Work

Rankings driven by shopper behavior, not opinions.

Our rankings are produced from data: how shoppers compare fans on our pages, which fans they go on to buy, and what owners consistently praise or complain about afterward. Established favorites don't get tenure. They hold their spots only as long as they keep winning against newer entrants.

The Full Picture

The complete methodology, including how we make money and why that never reorders a ranking, is documented on our How We Rank page.

Our Standards

Frank beats flattering.

Honest Summaries

Every ranked fan shows what owners like and what to watch for, including the flaws.

Plain English

CFM, decibels, and DC motors explained without jargon in our Fan Guide.

Brand Clarity

We profile the brands behind the fans, legacy names and newcomers alike.

Transparent Funding

We may earn a commission when you buy through our links. Rankings are never for sale.
